As you may know, Boulder Bowl is a recent recipient of the Best of Boulder City award for Best Attraction / Golf / Museum Business. What’s not to love about bowling a few games while having a hot dog and soda (or beer!) with some friends one night? Plus there’s the opportunity to join leagues and participate with others that way. Boulder Bowl is home to fun no matter how you roll it and now it’s even better!
We don’t know if you’ve been following along on their Facebook (HERE) and Instagram (HERE) pages, but Boulder Bowl has undergone a huge transformation and you’ve got to check it out! In addition to some really nice cosmetic work, they’ve replaced all the pin setters so there will be fewer maintenance problems in the future. The pin setters really are key to this remodel because it allows owners, Rachel Pancheri and Dan Combs, to make full use of the facility. They used to have to reserve a couple lanes in case of mechanical failures, but that’s no longer the case! More lanes available means more fun for all!
While managing the remodel, Rachel and Dan went to great lengths to use local businesses and tradespeople to complete the work. Some of these people include Frank Koper who refurbished the retro looking lockers, Nina Rainey of The Old Red Shed who stripped and refinished the furniture back to its original glory, Frantz Framing, Boulder City Electric, and Lisa Teepen of Lifestyle Interiors. The interior has a very cool retro vibe which transports you back to 1947, when the business first opened. All of the contractors did a fantastic job enhancing the look by freshening up the colors, while retaining the historic charm of the business.
Some things haven’t changed at Boulder Bowl. You still get a great place to gather and have fun with family and friends. We know that in the summer, we’re always looking for ways to get out of the heat, while still enjoying time together and Boulder Bowl is excellent for that. They are still running leagues and have multiple open bowling times. We we were visiting a couple weeks ago, there were several people in there giving it a go! According to Dan and Rachel, it’s not uncommon to see four generations of a family bowling together. That’s another great thing about the sport: it appeals to all ages!
One of the things that this remodel accomplished is that Boulder Bowl will be around for generations to come. They are planning some more surprises for the building but those are in the planning stages. One thing you will notice now is a new and improved logo. The bighorn sheep is named BoBo and he embodies the spirit of Boulder City while getting his bowl on! You can see his image below. This logo was created by a friend of Dan’s from his time in the Navy.
One other thing that is upgraded at Boulder Bowl is the cosmic bowling experience. New carpeting and an upgraded sound system makes for a groovy time on the lanes. Be sure to check out Boulder Bowl for your next birthday party or office event. You can book these online at their website HERE. On our recent visit, we also spotted a Little Free Library, which is a great addition to the place.
Make sure to include Boulder Bowl on your list of spots to check out in coming weeks. You won’t be disappointed. Boulder Bowl is located at 504 California Avenue (across the Escalante Park from the Boulder City Police Department). Their phone number is (702) 293-2368. They are open seven days a week, but call ahead for open lane availability.
