CSRecordZ Spins Up Good Tunes and Great Vibes

“Digging in the crates” is something those of us born last century probably remember fondly. Many a Saturday morning was spent at the local record shop, combing through the new releases to be purchased, treasured, and played on repeat. Eventually vinyl gave way to cassette tapes, then compact discs, and finally streaming music services where literally millions of songs can be accessed in a manner of a few seconds.

But the nostalgia of vinyl records has been making a comeback in recent years, especially among younger generations. The idea of having an actual album to hold, study (liner notes are some of the best reading around!!), and play endlessly from start to finish is a joy of its own. Good thing Chad Schulz took his passion and made it his work, because now we have CSRecordZ to enjoy.

And enjoy you will! During a recent visit to the record store, The Beach Boys playing softly in the background, we sat down with Chad to chop it up over his new location at 1000 Nevada Way, Suite 107. He tells us that his store is more than just a trip down memory lane for some of us more seasoned shoppers, it’s a place for making new memories with customers who are just learning the vinyl ropes. Recently, he had a family come in – mom, dad, kids, grandparents, and a great-grandparent – and they bonded over their shared love of music. That’s just the sort of thing that makes Chad’s day. Music is great for bringing people together!

You’ll find almost every genre of music here: from the aforementioned Beach Boys to The Who to Siouxsie and the Banshees to Van Halen to The Bee Gees. There was even a more contemporary section with artists like Justin Bieber and Method Man. One could (and did) spend quite some time going through the various crates to stroll down memory lane. They have quite the selection of vintage albums, as well as newer ones available for purchase. There are $5 albums, and even the cool 33 1/3 records. When Chad says, “Vinyl in our veins”, he means it!

In addition to the fantastic music, there’s a special boutique by The Thrifted Owl. It sells all kinds of lovingly repurposed clothing items and accessories for the rocker in all of us! There are Battle Born 1864 tees for sale, as well as some original artwork by local artists. Chad’s daughter Kaylie will be bringing in Kaylie’s Krystal Kraze. Be sure to check all of that out on your next trip!

Chad spoke very highly of other businesses in town, and the warm welcome he’s received from them. Of particular note, he mentioned Boulder City Co Store, Cielo Salon and Spa, Fox Family Bakery, and Leafy Latitude. He also said all of the customers they’ve had so far have been amazing, with some repeat customers already. He loves the small town atmosphere that Boulder City is famous for, likening it to a small town in Ohio, where he grew up.

The store is going to begin offering a Open Mic night soon for those who would like to perform in an intimate setting telling jokes, singing, playing instruments, etc. Be on the lookout for that announcement very soon! Also, they will be having an official Grand Opening on August 9 so stay tuned for that.

Chad and his wife, Connie, as well as his brother, Chris, invite you to visit soon. CSRecordZ is open Wednesday thru Sunday from 10:00AM to 6:00PM. The shop is closed Monday and Tuesday. You can reach Chad by phone at (702) 561-3316. You can also find them on Instagram HERE.
