The Desert Conservation Easement south of town is 86,000 acres “designated for the protection and conservation of native desert wildlife and plants.” Mojave Max and the fine folks over at Clark County Desert Conservation Program are looking for volunteers of all ages and abilities to help them clean up the area on Saturday, September 30, beginning at 8:00AM. Mojave Desert Tortoises, like Mojave Max, are listed as a threatened species, and are protected under the US Endangered Species Act and Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 50.080). This species lives in Mojave and Colorado deserts north and west of the Colorado River in southwestern Utah, southern Nevada, southeastern California, and northwestern Arizona in the United States.
