Last night Boulder City dazzled a bit with a visit from our own Governor Joe Lombardo! The gathering also included other county and state leaders:
- Nevada Assemblyperson Danielle Gallant, District 23
- The Office of Representative Dina Titus: Salomee Levy, Outreach Specialist
- Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson, and his wife, Lora
- From the City of Henderson, Mayor Michele Romero, and Council members Carrie Cox, Monica Larson and Dan Stewart and City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause.
- From the City of North Las Vegas: Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown and Councilman Issac Barron
- Our own Boulder City Council members, pictured left to right: Cokie Booth, Steve Walton, Gov. Joe Lombardo, Mayor Joe Hardy, Sherri Jorgensen and Denise Ashurst.
The theme for the Mayor’s speech was One Team, Together. He spoke about each of the Council members and they each had recorded a segment talking about the various other committees they serve on representing Boulder City’s interests within Clark County and at the State and national levels as well as local initiatives they have been involved in or are passionate about.
In the Mayor’s quintessential and approachable manor, he talked about the different “hats” each of us wears both as citizens and members of the community and all of the work that the city does in serving the needs of those of us who live her. But he also warmly called out many individuals and organizations that help establish and maintain the essence of what makes Boulder City so special and livable. You’ll soon be able to watch the full presentation yourself on the City’s website or on their YouTube channel HERE.
Here are some key takeaways the Mayor spoke about:
- Solar leases bring $23.3 million to the City, helping to keep property taxes low and ensuring the City’s budget is balanced and incurs no debt.
- This past year, new leadership came on board with the hiring of Ned Thomas, City Manager, Ken Morgan, Fire Chief, and Michael Mays, Deputy City Manager.
- The City Council passed the strongest ordinance in Clark County for riders of bicycles, skateboards, e-bikes, and e-scooters. They also passed a new leash law which became effective towards the end of 2025.
- Resident Cindi Swanson was recognized for her commitment to making Boulder City more accessible for the blind and mobility impaired residents and visitors. She is a founding member of AccessibleBC.
- The Shane Patton statue was installed and unveiled in June 2025.
- Liberty Ridge, formerly Tract 350, lots will be available for luxury homes in the spring. Voters approved the sale of this land, per the controlled growth ordinance.
- The City will embark on the new pool project beginning with pre-construction activities next month. This project was previously approved by voters in 2024 so it will be good to see that finally happening.
- The Southern Nevada Railroad Museum Visitor Center is scheduled to open in 2026.
- The Nevada Way Project was completed, providing ADA access to the area.
- Additional projects slated for this year include: Municipal Golf Course turf reduction and water conservation project, water conservation projects, sewer lift station improvements, Municipal Airport control tower, City Hall ADA accessibility project, and RTC-funded projects for the next year include various roadway improvements and the ADA transition plan.
All in all, the city is in great shape and there are a lot of things to look forward to in 2026!
