Fan Tom Perkins posted on the Facebook page this week that Albertsons has finally changed hands (last Monday, it sounds like).
Who are the new owners? Um, Albertsons. LOL. Well, not really. The short version is that a capital management group owns a bunch of Albertson in various states (and has the right to use the Albertsons name)…the other Albertsons was still under the control of the ‘original’ Albertsons company.
The capital management group announced in January that they were going to buy out the remaining stores from the original Albertsons – so that’s ours!
You can find more information on Wikipedia (which you can read by clicking here)…but one thing that Tom mentioned in his post is that Albertsons LLC (the new owners) will be discontinuing the Preferred Savings Card program in favor of offering discounted items to all its customers.
Let’s hope that our friendly staff and management stay the same at the store because Albertsons (particularly awesome store manager Pete Iovino) is a HUGE supporter of community events in Boulder City!
