This is one of those Flashback Friday photos that I find insanely interesting. It’s the automobile engine-powered Cottonwood Aerial Ferry on the Colorado River, c. 1930-1931. In the historical info sent over by the Boulder City Hoover Dam Museum (thanks so much, Laura Hutton!)…it says that this is what carried customers between Searchlight, Nevada and Chloride, Arizona, but is now under Lake Mohave.
I like the overhead lines and Laura pointed out that the sign reads these ferry fees (which I find hilarious): Car $2.00; Truck $2.50; Motorcycle $1.00; Horseman .50; Stock .50 per head; Pedestrian .25!!
