You wouldn’t think we’d have two Rotary Clubs in a town our size, but we do…and most of us are familiar with one or both of them – Sunrise Rotary (website here) that meets Thursdays for breakfast and Rotary Club of Boulder City (website here) that meets Wednesdays at lunch (both at Boulder Creek Golf Club).
Well, now there is yet another option for Rotary service in town — the Rotary Club of Boulder City (often referred to as Noon Rotary) recently launched the first “satellite club” in the Rotary District…it’s an off-shoot of their main club and meeting at the Boulder Dam Brewing Company on Tuesdays at 6:30pm.
The main differences are that it’s less formal, they don’t have weekly speakers, they either meet to discuss a community project they want to do or they go and do it (instead of meeting)…so it seems to be a bit more about ‘hands-on’ service in the Boulder City community. And here’s a big one: dues are $20 a month, so it’s significantly less expensive than the traditional Rotary dues structure.
Last weekend, they cleaned up the rock garden in front of the police station and presented the Boulder City Senior Center with 5 wheelchairs they recently searched out and acquired…2 of which are already in use. If you are interested in finding out more about the club, you can send an email to info@bouldercityrotary.org or swing by Boulder Dam Brewing Company (although know that they might not have a meeting if they’re doing a project that week instead).
