Here’s something I didn’t know existed — a non-profit organization that exists to raise funds and improve the daily life of our Vets up at the Nevada State Veterans Home … cool.
The Nevada Veterans Assistance League is a non-profit organization whose funds are used for residents’ needs/wants (baseball tickets, dining out program, various activities, wheelchair batteries, portable oxygen concentrators, personal needs, etc.). NVAL’s goal is to ensure that residents retain their independence, security, happiness, dignity and usefulness. They have no paid salaries and expenses of approx. 1% (for office supplies, PO box rental, tax filings, etc.).
NVAL hopes to increase its financial assistance for activities and events so the number of offerings for residents can be expanded and so is currently registering players and accepting raffle prizes for their annual fundraising golf tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Course on February 25th (2017).
More information about the event can be found on their mailer (registration form is on pg. 2) by CLICKING HERE or you can contact Julie Boyster, Volunteer Coordinator at (702) 332-6741 or via email at boysterj@veterans.nv.gov.
All donations to NVAL, including 100% of the funds raised at their tournament, are eligible as tax-deductions and directly benefit the residents of the Nevada State Veterans Home.
