Mask Mandate in Nevada Removed Effective Immediately

Mask Mandate Nevada Removed Boulder City, Nevada

As of 10:00am this morning, February 10, 2022, Governor Sisolak has lifted the mask mandate throughout the state of Nevada, effective immediately!

The general public will no longer be required to wear masks in public places and all employees at various businesses and organizations are also no longer required to wear face masks at work, with a few exceptions. For schools, the Governor asks them to have their current mask policies remain in place for the rest of the school day today, to give parents, teachers and school districts and administrators the opportunity to discuss, but as of tomorrow, no masks will be required for students, teachers or employees.

Exceptions:

  • Notably, heath care facilities such as clinics, hospitals, nursing homes and other care facilities can keep their mask mandate policies in place and will be overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services
  • All FAA and Federal Facilities such as public transport, school buses, airports and train stations must still continue to wear masks (Boulder City – please make a note here, this includes our local Railway Museum – so masks will still be required there)

One of the things that the Governor mentions is this: for any person who wishes to remain masked in public places for their own security and physical health needs, then they should continue to wear masks as desired and that their desires be respected, and that all people be treated respectfully. The Governor also added his wish that “kindness be as contagious as the virus has been”, and that there is no place for ridiculing people who do decide to continue to wear masks.

That’s a good reminder for us all I think. The mask mandates throughout our country and in the world at large have been controversial to say the least. However, if we value our freedoms and freedom of choice, then let’s now give each other space – most of us will gladly INDEED relish the release of what has been a cumbersome annoyance. But let’s also allow those among us who do have concerns feel respected as they act in their best interests, and continue to enjoy and go about our daily lives.
