Last month we reminded you about the virtual programs at the Boulder City Library HERE, and they’ve recently announced some new additions we want to make sure our readers know about too!
Kids Craft Kits
Kids are encouraged to pick up a craft kit when stopping by the library to pick up regular library reading materials. Each craft kit in February includes a small box to decorate with foam stickers and crayons, which are included in the kit. There is also a connect the dots coloring sheet for kids as well.
Virtual Get Togethers
These online meetings continue at 10:00AM every Friday. These are intended for children 0-5 with caregiver. To join a storytime session, library users should log on at https://www.gotomeet.me/bclibrary/drop-in-storytime.
Other online events taking place this month include Cook the Book Club, Mindful Hour, Spill the Tea Book Club (now meeting the second Thursday of the month) and Dungeons and Dragons (more info on this fun below).
The 2021 Winter Reading Program
The Winter Reading Program ends Sunday, February 28, 2021. For kids ages 0-18, it will go by time spent reading. Every hour that a child reads (or is read to), they will earn a badge. After reading for 10 hours, they will be entered to win a Kindle Fire! This includes listening to audiobooks, reading for homework, reading as a family, and any other form of reading.
For the adult Winter Reading Program, it is simple: In this challenge you read a book in each of 10 categories and share your favorite discoveries with the library and your fellow readers. Broaden your reading horizons and earn a chance to win the grand prize!
Both Winter Reading Programs will be offered virtually through Beanstack. Visit HERE to sign up.
Dungeons & Dragons Virtual Gaming
Ever wanted to chase down bandits, solve arcane puzzles, or save a town while also being an elf? Boulder City Library is here for you, offering virtual Roleplaying games for ages 10 – 18. Games scheduled by the table. Check out this Google Doc HERE for upcoming games, or email Courtney@BCLibrary.org for more information.
