I received some things in the mail last month that came in a gigantic box filled to the brim with packing peanuts.
That was great as far as making sure my purchase wasn’t damaged – because they were the trophies for the Best Dam Barbecue Challenge winners and it was the day before the event – but good grief…what to do with all those peanuts that wouldn’t let them find their way to the dump?!
I thought that Jim over at PostNet might be able to resell them and when I emailed him to see if I could unload them on him — he sent me back a note that said absolutely – because they are members of the Plastic Loose Fill Council.
Now you know I’d have to check that out — the PLFC was founded in 1991 to promote the reuse of polystyrene loose fill, commonly known as “packing peanuts.” The Council’s “Peanut Hotline” is one of the country’s most successful material reuse programs. “Peanut Hotline”…that just cracks me up!
Their website is www.loosefillpackaging.com and you can find the drop-off site for your packing peanuts anywhere in the U.S. using their search function. PostNet (1022 Nevada Hwy., which is the Albertsons Shopping Center) is the drop-off location in Boulder City – so just bring them in and then you can also be peanut-free!
