Many of us are familiar with our friend Frank Carroll who is a photographer, history buff and volunteer out at the Southern Nevada Railway Museum in Boulder City.
He created this post card and sent it to us a while back, and with the weather changing into cooler temps, it’s time to go ride the train!
Frank tells us about this particular engine, and we quote: “This steam engine was used by a lumber company in the Oregon/Washington area for logging. It pulled log cars from the forests to the lumber mill where the trees were cut into lumber. Kind of a boring life for a train versus the glamor of the Sante Fe Southwest Chief that ran from Chicago to Los Angeles through the southwestern USA.” It might have been a more boring life, but someone has to be the workhorse, right?!? It looks well cared for now in it’s retirement thanks to the folks down at the museum.
