Perhaps you’ve wondered who these friends of the library are, what their mission is, and what they accomplish for our treasured Boulder City Library. The first thing to know about the library is that it’s an independent branch that is not managed by the city or by Clark County Las Vegas Library District. Yes, the city occasionally hosts community events there. Yes, CCLVLD has an interlocal agreement with our library to exchange materials like books, online resources, and the like. But the library is solely funded by Boulder City residents for Boulder City residents.
But how does the library get “extras” or obtain additional income for library resources? That’s where Friends of the Boulder City Library come in. But who are these friends, and what do they do? Let us introduce you.
The Friends are a volunteer group that meets regularly to discuss and implement ways to support the Library’s endeavors. The board members are Carolyn Wagner, Laura Rogers, Leanne Keller, and Maureen Avery. Jessica Jones is the library’s representative. These volunteers have been very busy and have several events scheduled for the coming weeks
- MARCH 9 FROM 4:00PM to 8:00PM: Wine Walk at Boulder Dam Hotel (1305 Arizona Street) featuring their “Hidden Treasures” (donated books of value)
- MARCH 16 at the 10:00AM, 12:00PM, and 2:00PM: Nevada State Museum where they will be giving away children’s books at the Story Time Train.
- MARCH 16 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM: Rock, Roll, and Stroll. They will have a booth there for the community event.
- MARCH 21 from 6:00PM to 7:00PM: Membership meeting and workshop “How to Begin the Process of Valuing a Book” at the Boulder City Library.

As you can see, the group is always busy, whether it’s valuing the books donated to the library, to hosting pop up book sales in the Library rotunda, to giving away books to youngsters on the Nevada State Railway, the group is always busy and looking for ways to continue to keep out library one of the best in the Clark County.
The Friends of the Boulder City Library help the library with fundraising events, they stock they “Take What You Need” community resource area where residents can grab shampoo or soap or feminine hygiene items. They donate books to the library and help coordinate various activities for members that free up time and space for library staff.
We are very lucky to have these library lovers who do so much to enhance the work of our library in our community!
