The Boulder City Municipal Golf Course and the Boulder Creek Golf Club will now be handled by a single contract, run and managed by local Golf Pro Andy Schaper. Personally, I don’t golf (I’m more inclined to the ‘Golf is a way to spoil a good walk’ philosophy…) but we have friends who do, and they were thrilled about this change! So, we decided we’d tee up this news for those who may have missed it.
Andy Shaper has been with the Boulder Creek Golf Club since it opened back in 2003. He’s a GPA Golf Pro and also the coach of the BCHS Girls and Boys Golf Teams. Who, if you didn’t hear have continued their dominant streak of winning State Championships! (The Boys Team has won THREE Years in a row and the Girls Team the past TWO Years!)
But back to our local courses – even though we’re a small town and a small market, both courses were managed separately. That was less than ideal, because it put the two courses into a potentially competitive stance with one another. Now, this change means everyone is playing on the same team, (literally) and can share resources.
Starting right after the New Year in 2019 players in town can have access to up to 45 holes of golf. You can learn more and book tee times at either course on their web site HERE.
We asked Andy how much of our golf biz is locals versus tourists. He estimates that we’re around 70-75% of the players are local, but the balance being outside of the local Las Vegas area. Andy tells us he loves to meet people from all over, and that we’ve had folks from as far away as Asia, Europe and Scotland on our greens.
Not sure if you’ll see me out there, but this all does sound like great news for folks who love to play. So spread the word!
