This has been a work in progress for several years, and they are continuing to make headway on this opportunity to link Boulder City, the Parkway business corridor, and our River Mountains Loop Trail into a cohesive, outdoor enthusiast area that will run from all the way out by Veteran’s Memorial to the corner of Boulder City Parkway and Buchanan.
We’ve talked about this a number of times, in one article HERE back in 2018, were some early drawings. Some of these features had been kept, while others have had to be dropped as the project has evolved. The plan is closely linked to the larger Railroad Museum Visitor Center expansion. However, the two projects are separate, and require their own funding resources.
Jill Lagan, CEO of the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, has been spearheading this project, and let’s say she is being ambitious and creative on pooling her resources to make the grant money go farther on the Boulder City Railway Trail.
She tells us, “The Economic Vitality Commission, under the direction of the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, is looking forward to turning dirt on the very first trailhead for the new Boulder City Railway Trail that provides the only planned option leading River Mountain Loop Trail riders off the path and into the business core. Eventually it will be the trail that leads into the Linear Park and new Railroad Museum, but for now, it is a great option for inviting more guests of outdoor adventure into our business corridor to add to their experience and encourage them to spend a little more time in Boulder City.”
Mind you, this first section is one of several that will be connecting the trails together, but the fact that we’re nearing a phase where actual work begins is exciting! We’ll keep you posted over time on all.
